Introduction – The story so far

36 years ago we ‘The Watsons’, set up residence at West Town Pastures Farm, where a dairy herd was milked. Due to a decrease in demand for farms we decided to branch out into B&B and have never looked back since! The Farmhouse B&B became extremely popular, this was about 28years ago. In those days we used all our own milk, cream and butter from our prize winning Jersey herd.

Enquiries started coming in for us to do evening meals and the ‘Farmhouse’ restaurant was born. Firstly serving meals in our living room and dining room we started to use our family lounge so catering for approx 30. Word soon started to spread and the demand became so grate that we would have to move or expand. We gained a grant from the Tourist Board and 21 years ago the Jersey Farm Hotel (by now christened by our customers) was rated along with the famous carvery restaurant. Our aim then and now has always been to give value for money and serve traditional Farmhouse Fayre and plenty of it as you will soon witness. Our recipe for success still stands strong today!

In the years we have been here we have grown from a 4 bedrooms to 20 bedrooms all en-suite. From 30 covers to 200 covers a night in the restaurant and we now have ‘The Barn’, a high class function suite covering for 300 with its own unique sound and light show.

As you will have noticed if you have been before that we keep expanding and are constantly renovating and improving to keep our standards. We will always keep our friendly, personal and family touch throughout. You can of course bet we have further developments planned up our sleeve. A leisure suite and fitness suite and sauna etc for 2001/2002.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed by law to use our own Jersey Farm milk, cream and butter but we still keep the prize winning Jersey and highland cattle. We try to go to the shows with them but obviously time restricts

Around the fields you will see both Jersey and Highland cattle, sheep, horses, Shetland Ponies, pigs, deer and the latest addition to our family the Llamas! Please feel free to wonder the farm and “Talk to the animals”. Remember to close the gate and not to step in the field with the animals.

Mark, Kimberley, Jean and John hope you have an enjoyable meal and an interesting look around and hope you will visit us “down on the farm” again soon.

If anything about your visit is not satisfactory please tell a member of the management. We will try to rectify the problem and keep the standards we have achieved for so long. Please feel free to ask for a brochure or menu to keep as a souvenir or to pass on to your friends. If you have enjoyed your time here please do not hesitate to recommend Jersey Farm to others.

We would be delighted to see them!

New for 2002
We are always making continual improvements and trying to give each year’s brides something a little different to the last. The Hotel has just received new carpets through all public areas and a bedroom redecoration program is under way with 2 new rooms being added. Outside the Bar suite we are landscaping a new garden and lawn area adding many features such as a patio, gravelled area, seating, water feature and wrought iron trellis, as well as a hard surface tennis court. In 2002 we have planned new wrought iron candle stands and flowers for the tables Floating candles will be lit on the arrival drinks table. New table skirting is to be used on the tope table, drinks table, signing table and cake table. We will also be decorating the entrance with an artificial garland. There will be also an option of a fresh flower package to decorate the main room. (Rates will be available soon). We are also having printed new menu holders for the tables with an illustration of the hotel on. The tables will be set with new bead pattern cutlery. And new carpets have been ordered for the entrance hall and side room of the Barn.

CIVIL MARRIAGE
The trend now is not to get married in a church or registry office but at the venue of your reception usually a hotel. The Jersey Farm therefore has joined this trend and licensed a number of rooms to hold your ceremony in.

The obvious advantages to getting married in the same venue as well as cost is that it is a lot less stressful dealing with one organisation for the majority of the day. The setting is perfect at Jersey Farm and a number of rooms are on offer to hold the ceremony separate to the reception room or in the same room. There are options for pre wedding drinks and canopes just to make the day last a little longer and make it even more special and grand.

To hold your wedding ceremony at the Jersey Farm Hotel there is a charge this includes the chairs arranged as you require, flower pedestals to decorate the room, decorative table for the service, use of C.D. Music system and of course personal attention of our staff to help with arrangements on day.

Go on take the plunge

Now you have made the wise decision to hold
your wedding celebration at The Jersey Farm Hotel
here are some handy tips on how to go about booking your special event

1. Firstly you must choose your date and telephone the Jersey Farm reception to see if there is a vacancy and reserve the date for yourselves, but don't leave it too late as the popular dates always go well in advance.

2. You must now confirm your booking within three weeks of the initial booking. We will require a deposit of £300.00 as security along with all your personal details i.e. Telephone number, address etc. (Please note deposits are non refundable in any circumstance.) Payment for deposits is accepted in cash or cheque.

3. We then ask that you make an appointment with us to discuss your personal arrangements such as menu etc. This must be done at least 2 months prior to the wedding or sooner. At this point we will require a further £500.00 (minimum) as further deposit for your wedding (non-refundable). The 2 deposits will be deducted from your final bill.

4. We will then need your seating plan at least 10 days prior to the big day. We will have issued you with a dummy plan to assign names to.

5. The 5 days before the wedding we need to know any alteration to the seating plan and guest numbers. The number you give us 5 days prior will be the number we cater for and what you will be charged for. Payment can be in the form of cash or credit card.

6. 2 days before we will require your place cards which will be put on the tables for you and any favours etc. We will have the first draft of your table plan and menu which you can just confirm is all in order. You can also arrange for your cake to be delivered the day before if you wish and any presents etc.

7. The next day any presents and the cake can be collected and 10% discount is given to wedding parties wishing to take Sunday lunch in the carvery before they leave Jersey Farm.
